Backround on Aging & Skin Wrinkling
Skin is the largest organ in the human body, and it's vulnerable to damage from many directions. As we get older, Collagen and elastin -- the skin's support fibers -- start breaking down & Cell turnover slows. The skin's outer cells don't slough off as easily, so skin isn't renewed as efficiently.
What's more, the skin doesn't retain as much moisture as it once did. Cells leak moisture when the glue that holds cell membranes together begins to degenerate. Sweat and oil glands also produce less moisture. Facial bones become less dense and fat deposits under the skin shrink, causing the skin to lose elasticity. And, as women enter their late 40s and 50s, the decrease in the hormone estrogen makes skin thinner, because it is no longer able to hold as much water. There are various treaments modalities avialable to fight the aging process and still look your best and perhaps the two most comon ones and the ones used here at Marketplace Medical Centre are: botox & Dermal Fillers.
What is botox?
Botox is a drug made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum called botulinum toxin. It is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles
What are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid; a natural substance that already exists in the human body.
Dermal fillers are injected to restore volume and fullness to the skin, resulting in the correction, reduction, and often elimination of facial wrinkles and folds.
The procedure is simple and offers visible results right away.
Fillers often last for 9-12 months, but it is variable depending on the amount injected and the area.
It is not one-size-fits-all, hence it has to be customized. Everyone has different needs and we will discuss them when you come in.
What areas can be treated with botox?
Botox treatments can be performed in a number of locations, including
How Does botox Work?
The botox relax the muscle by blocking the nerve impulse from reaching that specific areain the muscle. This leads the wrinkles to fade.
Generally the first botox treatment lasts between 3 to 4 months.
Over time the treated muscles can "learn" not to make the facial expression that caused the wrinkle, resulting in long lasting effect.
At the Marketplace Medical Center, Dr. Kassis, A very Qyalifified Physician with years of injection & clinical experience, personally administers all botox & Dermal Fillers injections.

btox procedures are quick with no anesthesia required. Injections are administered with an ultra-fine needle directly into the area being treated. You may briefly feel some discomfort that will end once the procedure is complete. Most patients, will return directly to work or normal activity immediately. Most people are very surprised the first time to see just how quickly and comfortably botox can be injected. If you’ve had botox in the past at another office and had any unexpected side effects, please let us know so Dr. Kassis can make the necessary adjustments to your dosage and/or injection placement.
botox treatments for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
Yes, we also treat patients with botox for the condition known as hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. botox is one of the treatment options for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) . The most commonly treated area is the underarm, which for some people is associated with a disabling degree of sweating.
During your individual consultation, we will help you learn about all treatment options so you can make the right choice for you.
How Often Should You Get botox Injections?
You're probably wondering how long botox lasts. Most people see effects for three to four months, but several factors may shorten or lengthen that period:
Your age. Older people with less muscle tone may see results diminish sooner than those with younger, firmer facial muscles.
Your facial structure and expressions.
Whether you smoke.
Whether you take good care of your skin.
How much sun you get and how much sun damage your skin already has.
Whether you use botox repeatedly or not. However, this seems to differ from one person to another. Some obtain a longer-lasting effect with repeated use, while others seem to develop a resistance to the drug and need more frequent treatments.
It is not recommended to have injections in the same injection site (such as for crow's feet) more frequently than every three months
