Seasonal Flu Shot and Nasal Spray

Influenza also known as “The Flu” is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can range from mild to severe levels of illness. It can lead hospitalization and sometimes even death. 

Every flu season, almost one in every 20 people in North America. will come down with influenza or flu symptoms. Physicians recommend an annual Flu vaccine for everyone who is at least 6 month old.

Signs and Symptoms of Flu:

  • Fever* or feeling feverish/chills

  • Cough

  • Sore Throat

  • Runny or stuffy nose

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue (tiredness

Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.

* It's important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.

Flu Complications

Most people recover in a few days to less than two weeks, but some people will develop complications (such as pneumonia) as a result of the flu, some of which can be life-threatening and may result in death.

When should I see a health care provider?

If you develop flu-like symptoms, Consult your health care provider early as you have a condition that puts you at higher risk of complications.

You are strongly advised  to call your health care provider if you experience the following:

  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • chest pain

  • signs of dehydration (such as dizziness when standing or low urine output)
